We are Sara and Matti, and we have run our band school in Roihupelto since 2009. Bands, instrument groups and music playschool from age 4 to adults – in small groups, always playing together.

Our album
The album Omat biisit (‘Our own songs’) was released in May 2019 to celebrate the band school’s 10th anniversary. It features 17 songs written by our students themselves. In the video, our students play at the spring 2026 stream concert.

Teachers
Your teachers: Sara and Matti
A small school with familiar faces: we teach every lesson ourselves – in Finnish, English and German.
Sara Suvela
Piano · vocals · guitar · bass · drums · music playschool · bands
Master of Music (Sibelius Academy), qualified as a music teacher and piano teacher. Also completed a music production programme at the Sibelius Academy. Singer and songwriter who also teaches at Matinkylä Upper Secondary School. sarasuvela.fi
Matti Suvela
Guitar · ukulele · bass · drums · bands · recording and mixing
Musician (Bachelor of Culture and Arts, Metropolia UAS) and qualified vocational teacher (Haaga-Helia UAS), education coordinator at Pop & Jazz Konservatorio. Also teaches music technology and is the band school’s studio engineer.

Coming up
Band camp in summer 2027
Our day camp, running since 2011, is back! For ages 7–13 in the first week of the summer holidays, Mon–Fri 9.30 am–3 pm.
- Band practice every daywith a teacher, about 5 players per band
- Your own song, name and logoin songwriting and band workshops
- A gig on Fridayfor parents and friends, 2–3 pm
- Lunch and a snackare included in the price · games in the nearby park
Sign up on your own or as a ready-made band. At band camp you can focus on one instrument or try out lots of different ones.
