A week at camp
What happens at camp?
The campers are put into bands that play every day with a teacher. We play songs the campers ask for, and every band also writes a song of its own.
Band practice every day
Drums, bass, guitar, keyboards and vocals. At camp you can focus on one instrument or try out lots of different ones.
Songwriting workshop
Every band writes its own song from start to finish – lyrics, chords and arrangement.
Band workshop
Each band designs its own name, logo and poster.
Gig on Friday
What the whole week builds up to: the bands play for parents and friends at the band school, 2–3 pm.
Lunch and the park
We have lunch at the restaurant next door, then play games in the nearby park.
Teachers
The camp teacher is Sara Suvela, together with a second camp leader.

FAQ
Good to know
Does my child need to know how to play?
No. Bands are formed by age and playing experience, so first-timers and more experienced players are equally welcome.
Can my child come on their own?
Yes. You can sign up as an individual player or as a ready-made band – put your bandmates’ names on the form and we will place you in the same group.
What instruments are there at camp?
Drums, bass, guitar, keyboards and vocals. The band school has all the instruments ready, so no instrument of your own is needed. Children are also welcome to bring their own wind instrument.
Which language is the camp in?
We teach in Finnish, English and German.
Can parents come and watch?
Yes – and we hope you will! On Friday from 2 to 3 pm, the bands play a gig at the band school for parents and friends.
What about food allergies?
Lunch is at the restaurant next door and the snack at the band school. Please tell us about any allergies when you sign up.
How is the camp paid for?
The camp fee is paid before the camp starts. We will send you the payment details once the place is confirmed.
What if something comes up or my child falls ill?
Please let us know as soon as possible at info@roihupellonbandikoulu.fi so we can offer the place to the next person on the waiting list. Cancellation is free of charge up to two weeks before the camp starts. After that we charge half of the camp fee – unless your child falls ill: if you let us know before the camp starts, we refund the full camp fee, less a 30 € administration charge. We don’t want anyone to come along ill. If the place can be filled from the waiting list, cancellation is always free. We cannot refund camp days that are missed.
If we have to cancel the camp, we refund the full fee. These terms can also be found on the prices and terms page.
